- ELECTRIC GUEST – This Head I Hold (Rudi Zygadlo rmx)

Print

L.A. duo ELECTRIC GUEST released their debut album in 2012 and it was one of my albums of that year, featuring the one and only DANGER MOUSE on the production-side. There seems to be a new album on the way end of may, so until then check out this really beautiful relaxed modern disco-remix with some broken parts in it by London’s Rudi Zygadlo:

- JOHN GRANT – Pale Green Ghosts (XINOBI rmx)

John Grant

Great, bass-heavy, synth-laden, lazy-funky modern Disco-Remix by XINOBI for JOHN GRANT. With some dark edges coming from the original track. Love it! Free D.L.!

- FATBOY SLIM – Praise you (MARIBOU STATE rmx)

fatboy

Great, relaxed and funky Disco-Remix by MARIBOU STATE for FATBOY SLIM’S best song ever: “Praise you”. Will be released soon on SKINT (yep, they still exist and got back to work after spending a decade just counting money). It’s a bit weird because it is not really a remix for Fatboy Slim, because it only takes the sample by CAMILLE YARBOROUGH’s original funky Soul-track “Take yo praise” from 1975. In case you never heard this fine tune, check it out here (yeah, I know, all you hipsters know the original for ages, just shut up!)

- FRYARS – Can’t stop loving you

Fryars++press+pic+3

Getting better and better and better. Young Londoner FRYARS is developping to be the missing link between BRIAN WILSON and JAMES BLAKE (if there was one missing…). Listen to this incredibly beautiful, subtle new song and let’s all hope the soon coming album will be worth the wait. I must say I kinda trust in that guy’s brilliance. If you are not sure, listen to his other songs on soundcloud. Every original track is outstanding. Forget the remixes….

- 12 years of DFA Records!!!!!!

dfa

DFA Records turns 12 this year, which means it just turned adolescent! Watch this fun and very entertaining 13 minute hommage featuring cameos and comments by all the artists and an insight into the office plus studio, plus James Murphy enjoying his retirement on a cruiseship. Thank you for putting back fun and dirt (besides guitars, cowbells etc..) into dancemusic. The most important label of the last 12 years, not only for me!
